Directions for doing lien sales in FoxTow Version 1.2
The first step to starting lien sales is to bring cars over from the towing module into the lien module. This is done by choosing CA-Liens under main, then start lien sales. A window like the one pictured below should come up.

After this step, a report will come up on the screen that you can print or choose to just look at. "See above" These are cars that FoxTow wants to bring over into the lien program. At this point, all of the cars will get a lien type of "R" assigned to them for "Regular", a lienfee will go into the billing screen for each car of $35.00.
Some cars wont come over from the towing program. These cars are any with a calltype of "A" or "H" for abandoned or Hold. If there is no Vin or license number the cars wont come over either. Cars with an empty lientype or a lientype = "R" will get the $35.00 amount.

Once a car reaches the lien program, you can look at it by choosing CA-Liens and Add/Edit Liens under the main part of the menu. There are 3 screens for every lien sale car. The first 2 screens are shown below.
As usual, there is a search button and close button on the toolbar. The left and right arrows move between the screens. The program has room for 8 interested parties and a registered and legal owner.
Once cars reach the lien sale module, under reports/liens a report called Lien Processing report (2) will allow you to print a report for cars that have reached the lien sale module. This report also allows you to look at cars that have a hold on them.

The next step to perform liens is to transmit cars. This is done by choosing Transmit/Receive inside of CA-Liens. A window like the one below will come up.

You only need to click on GO! and then the program will show you a list of cars it is going to transmit. This is your last chance to not send these cars. Youll be charged for each car that gets sent. The report looks like the one below.

A program called PC Anywhere will launch next and the electronic transmission of your cars on the above report will happen. After a few times of transmitting information, you learn what suppose to happen next but basically youll see files and there status (bytes sent) show up on the screen. If this isnt happening, there is a good chance that cars arent being sent. If there is nothing to send, then the program will attempt to receive information. In FoxTow unlike other programs, the send and receive part is one step (not two) the program knows if there are cars to send and receive or just receive.
Once cars come back you can look at them inside the Add/Edit screen and verify that information is inside the program. You dont have to look at them, but it sometimes is useful to verify the program is working correctly. The next step is to actually print the lien forms out of the computer.
Under CA-Liens, Print CA-lien forms under $2500.00 a window like this one will come up.

Check off the boxes that Ive checked off and put in your DMV Certified Mail Receipt#, the next step is to make sure the computer has labels inside "Avery 5160" and you might have to put them in face down. After the labels print, the next forms will print one by one until you have to load the printer with the New Bill Of Sale Form "Form 262" that you got from the DMV.
When your all done with this part, you will go into the Reports program and print out the CA-certification printout which is inside the Reports section under lien. This is the report that you take down to the post office for them to verify that you sent off your information correctly.
